In his farewell admonition to the Corinthians, Paul instructs the them how to conduct their lives without him. Earlier in I Corinthians 11:1 the apostle instructed them:"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." Paul followed Christ and wished that they would be compatible with Christ.
Paul's expectation for the Corinthian believers is indeed God's expectation for us today:
1. God wants you to Be Perfect.
God wants you to be complete lacking nothing.
(a) in service to the Lord - Romans 13:3-5; 6-8
(b) as a compatible member of the body of Christ. united with other members in the body - Romans 12:16-18
2. God wants you to Be Of Good Comfort.
In love - John 13:34,35
3. God wants you to Seek Unity
Paul says be of one mind.
Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 2:1-4
4. God wants you to Live in Peace
(a) Our God is a God of peace - Romans 15:33
(b) When Jesus appeared to His frightened disciples He gave them His peace - John 20:19-23
Brethren our faith and practice must include living and leaving our brethren in peace not in pieces.
(c) Un-forgiveness, Doubt, Pride are some of the sinful drawbacks that hinder our peace.
